4 Unique Volunteer Opportunities in Belleville This Fall

volunteer belleville

We’ve talked about it before and we’ll say it again — volunteering is great for not only spiritual wellness, but it can also have a positive effect on your mind and body. You know that good feeling you get after you’ve done something to help other people? That feeling isn’t just that — it can improve your overall wellbeing.

But what volunteer options are there in the Belleville area? Want something that will only take the commitment of a short period of time? Or maybe you just want to try out a unique, less frequent volunteering project.

Volunteering in Belleville

We’ve gathered four volunteering opportunities going on in the Belleville area this fall:

  • 1st Annual Belleville Marathon: Saturday, September 24. This 26.2 mile marathon-only race will guide runners across the city’s roads and paved trails, through historic neighborhoods and along America’s longest continuous city street: Main Street. Proceeds benefit the city’s Parks & Recreation Department and The Backstoppers, Inc. When you volunteer here, you can choose where and when you are free to help!
  • Volunteer at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Belleville, IL on Saturday, October 8th at Southwestern Illinois College. You can help out as part of the planning committee or on the day of the walk, whichever fits best in your schedule!
  • 47th Annual Way of Lights, Friday, November 18 – Saturday, December 31, 2016 5 PM nightly. Proceeds benefit the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. To participate or volunteer, contact Heather Carter, 618-394-6287 or hcarter@snows.org
  • Tails, Trails & Twinkles, Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 5 PM at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Proceeds benefit the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. To participate or volunteer contact Heather Carter, 618-394-6287 or hcarter@snows.org

Hopefully one of the ideas strikes you as something you’d loved to be involved in! If not, give either VolunteerMatch.org or GreatNonprofits a try! Each of these sites searches for different volunteering opportunities for different cities and areas, so you can find one that you want to be a part of!

Great opportunities for volunteering are all around you. If you’re interested in learning more about the options for you within The Esquiline, contact us to learn more at 618-394-6400.
