What is spiritual wellness?
Many factors play a part in defining spirituality - religious faith, beliefs, values, ethics, principles and morals. Some gain spirituality by growing their faith in what they believe or strengthening their personal relationships with others. Others may grow spiritually by finding peace in a certain situation or their environment.
Spirituality allows us to find the inner calm and peace needed to get through whatever life brings, no matter what one's beliefs are or where they may be on your spiritual journey. It’s discovering a sense of meaningfulness in your life and coming to know that you have a purpose to fulfill.
You should nurture and care for your spirit, just as you do your body and mind. The spirit can carry you through anything. It can provide a sense of peace and purpose even when life deals you something unexpected.
Make Time to Reconnect
Take time to reconnect and grow your spirit. Join a prayer group, seek spiritual direction from a pastor or minister, read books on spirituality or attend a class or lecture.
Another great way to connect to your spirituality is to take time for yourself. Enjoy a quiet walk or find a quiet place to sit. Reflect on the day’s events, a specific situation or certain person. Listen to your inner voice, follow your heart and trust in your faith to lead you down the path of a fulfilled life.
