For more than a decade, the St. Francis Center for Assisted Living and the Dammert Skilled Care Center at The Esquiline have received deficiency-free reports from the Illinois Department of Public Health. We recently received another deficiency-free report in June 2017.
What Does Deficiency-Free Mean?
Deficiency-free means that we meet the requirements of the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Esquiline’s Department of Public Health deficiency-free report is posted at multiple locations in our building and is also available upon request.
Why Can’t I Find You on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid 5-Star Rating System?
We are often asked, why the St. Francis Center for Assisted Living and the Dammert Skilled Care Center are not listed on the Medicare star rating system posted on medicare.gov.
Because the St. Francis Center for Assisted Living and the Dammert Skilled Care Center are private pay campuses and receive no federal reimbursement, Medicare does not collect statistics, and therefore does not list our center on medicare.gov.
Is the Inspection by the Illinois Department of Public Health Comparable to CMS?
State certification for a facility is subject to the approval of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). State of Illinois requirements are equivalent to CMS requirements.

Continuing Care for Your Parent
The Esquiline is a nonprofit with a focus on service to all people. As noted on our website, we live out the spirit and values of our founders, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate.
As a Life Plan or continuing care retirement community, we provide a home for senior adults no matter their needs. They may enter The Esquiline as independent adults, but when they need more care, we can help, whether it be providing medication at proper times or offering skilled nursing. Unlike many Life Plan communities, though, we require no application fee and offer a variety of contract options.
Learn more about how our tradition of affordability, service, and caring can support your senior parent’s health and happiness by calling us at 618-394-6400 or 800-533-6279 or contacting us online.
