When a loved one faces physical or mental challenges as they age, it can be difficult to determine the best care plan. You want to seek out a place that treats your parent like family, not a patient.
That’s why it’s so important to choose a skilled nursing center like the Dammert Care Center that provides person-centered care.
Skilled Nursing Care that Feels Like Home
We respect our residents’ individuality and strive to create warm, home-like surroundings. Our semi-private rooms are immaculately kept and spacious, with emergency response systems incorporated into the layout in an unobtrusive way. Wooded landscapes can be seen from resident rooms, and skylights in common areas bring in natural light, creating a relaxing, open atmosphere.
“Once it became apparent that Dad was going to need skilled nursing care, our family desired to find a facility that could provide him with quality care while also offering an independent living option for Mom if and when she desired to move closer to him. The beautiful setting, as well as the strong sense of community that became ever more apparent after the move, were definite pluses that we all continue to enjoy.” - Ned S.
We are very proud that we have been able to transition residents who once required skilled nursing care back to their own apartments at the St. Francis Center for Assisted Living or independent living.
In fact, for more than a decade, our Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing communities have received deficiency-free reports from the Illinois Department of Public Health. We recently received another deficiency-free report in June 2019 with a level of excellence in care delivery. We boast an experienced nursing staff with over 80 collective years of service. All team members have earned certification for Person-Centered Care through the Alzheimer’s Association. We are also a certified MUSIC & MEMORY© campus.
“Mom initially put off moving from her home for as long as possible because of the emotional attachment she had to the house. She was losing motivation to live and was not eating on her own anymore. Once she moved into Dammert, everything changed -- it was like night and day. She loves the nurses, I love the nurses, and everyone here is just phenomenal. I truly believe the nurses here saved her life.” - Peggy M.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with what is tracked in the Medicare 5 Star Rating System when considering different skilled nursing centers. When you’re looking at private-pay campuses like ours, ask about similar statistics and how they compare to state percentages.
Once your parent is moved in, we treat them like family. To help your parent transition to this new home, you can add personal touches to their space to make them feel comfortable.
If you are worried about how your parent will stay busy and social during their time at our care center, you need not be concerned! At the Dammert Care Center, there are daily groups or small group activities, cable TV and Wi-Fi, an easy-access outdoor patio, and a fireside dining room.
“This place really feels like home. The family enjoys spending time here as much as Momma enjoys having us here. The overall attentiveness of the staff is superior. You ask them something, and boom, you get it!” – Mary Ann J.
Also, be sure to talk to the skilled nursing staff to ensure your parent receives the proper nutrition. At the Dammert Care Center, we have dietary planning and consulting available to address any concerns you may have
At the Dammert Care Center, we also believe that pastoral care helps improve the body, mind, and spirit connection as it relates to the overall health of our residents and families. For our residents who wish to attend, we have daily Catholic Masses and communion, as well as weekly Protestant services.
